The idea of the conference
Since its inception, criminology's potential has been determined by its diverse cognitive, theoretical, and practical perspectives. The scientific foundation upon which criminology is built seeks to elucidate the etiology of crime, the mechanisms underlying its formation, and the methods derived from it. This endeavor has yielded new and improved research methodologies as well as more sophisticated theories. Other disciplines, including sociology, psychology, pedagogy, anthropology, biology, and law, have developed distinct criminological paradigms that have influenced the study of crime and its phenomena. The constructive criticism among representatives of these disciplines has fostered the dynamic development of criminology as a science and paved the way for its practical applications.
Criminology, in particular, has provided empirical explanations for the phenomenon of human conflicts with the law and has identified micro and macro social risks associated with criminal behavior, as well as factors contributing to the reduction of crime and recidivism. The second conference in the series entitled 'Criminology and Public Safety' aims to initiate a dialogue among representatives from various research fields and practices related to the interdisciplinary nature of criminology, as well as the research methods upon which it relies. Additionally, the conference aims to foster collaboration within the community of individuals united by their interest in criminological and forensic issues, with the intent of uncovering new problems and research horizons.
